Proven, Effective Termite Protection

Often we find Lowcountry homeowners are not fully aware of the risk termites pose to their homes. Termite damage is not covered by your homeowner’s insurance policy even though termites are responsible for more damage every year than earthquakes, house fires, and hurricanes combined. In South Carolina, the risk of termite exposure is extremely high, making termite treatments and protection absolutely necessary.

BASF’s Termidor® product is the best liquid termiticide on the market. This product is a tried and true liquid termiticide, continuously proven to prevent termite destruction year after year, therefore enabling us to provide the best termite protection. Termidor® is effective against Eastern Subterranean and Formosan termites, even in the most challenging situations, climates, and environments.

Don’t Put Out the Welcome Mat for Termites

Termites live in the soil and are attracted to wood and moisture. They travel underground, through wood and in darkness. You can help us protect your home from termite attack by taking certain steps so your treatments last as long as possible:

  • Fix leaky faucets, water hoses and connections, and pipes along the foundation wall.
  • Repair roof leaks and repair or replace leaky gutters and downspouts.
  • Repair all rotten wood, door jams, windows, steps and chimneys.
  • Keep gutters free of leaves and make sure downspouts take rainwater away from the foundation.
  • Make sure sprinkler systems do not spray onto siding and foundation walls.
  • Grade the soil around foundation so that water flows away from your home.
  • Do not disturb the soil within 18” of the foundation wall if your soil been treated. Do not plant shrubs, flowers or vegetables in this 18” zone.
  • Avoid direct wood-to-ground contact unless the wood has been pressure zone.
  • Remove all wood debris from the soil in crawl space.
  • Do not pile wood mulch against the foundation wall; leave a few inches of bare soil.
  • Do not stack firewood against the house.

Termite Warranty

In our part of the country virtually every home must be covered by a termite warranty.  There are two main types:  “retreat” warranties and “retreat and repair” warranties.  Retreat warranties cover retreating the structure at no cost if termites are found.  Any damages cause by the infestation are not covered.  A retreat and repair warranty covers the retreating of the structure as well as the repair of all damage at no cost to the homeowner.  The vast majority of our termite warranties are retreat and repair warranties.
